Summary

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference。"

These deceptively simple lines from the title poem of this collection suggest Robert Frost at his most representative: the language is simple, clear and colloquial, yet dense with meaning and wider significance。 Drawing upon everyday incidents, common situations and rural imagery, Frost fashioned poetry of great lyrical beauty and potent symbolism。

Robert frost had touched the hidden gems in this book。 It is very good and I loved the deepness and the touching moment in this book。

Robert Frost writes about nature in an enchanting way, reading it was delightful。 I was a bit afraid of reading 'classic' poetry because I assumed it would be hard to understand but with the exception of a few poems that I had to reread to grasp the meaning, the language was easy and accessible。 Overall the poems were beautiful and I really loved them。 Robert Frost writes about nature in an enchanting way, reading it was delightful。 I was a bit afraid of reading 'classic' poetry because I assumed it would be hard to understand but with the exception of a few poems that I had to reread to grasp the meaning, the language was easy and accessible。 Overall the poems were beautiful and I really loved them。 。。。more

This is great。 A journey to somewhere。 A story of someone。 That has made all the difference。

Robert Frost was an American Poet born in 1874! In this collection of 45 poems, 3 hit home with me! And one of them is very obvious! ☺️• The Road Not Taken • Bond & Free• Birches

Poetry。 The book begins with 23 page introduction to Robert Frost, a study of his poetry。 Book includes dozens of his poem。 I got this book in a used book store, it has a stamp from Beaverton High School so was probably used as a text book。

April is Poetry Month and what better way than to read a beautiful picture book based on the poem The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost with illustrations by Vivian Mineker。 The illustrator shows the story of a boy who chooses a path that leads him to adventures, love, and family, and then, more adventures! Talking about the pictures will help young people practice their sentence structure and storytelling skills。 For all ages。

I thought I loved Robert Frost, but in reading more of him I’ve learned that while I love several of his poems, I do not love his entire oeuvre。 Many of his poems that include dialogue are of the sort that break mid-line between different speakers, which is something I always have difficulty reading fluidly without awkward mental skips。 I also am apparently more of a stickler for consistent meter than I realized, and while Frost often has a relatively consistent number of syllables per line, his I thought I loved Robert Frost, but in reading more of him I’ve learned that while I love several of his poems, I do not love his entire oeuvre。 Many of his poems that include dialogue are of the sort that break mid-line between different speakers, which is something I always have difficulty reading fluidly without awkward mental skips。 I also am apparently more of a stickler for consistent meter than I realized, and while Frost often has a relatively consistent number of syllables per line, his stress patterns can be all over the place, and it bothers me。 Apparently I’d rather have flawless verse or freeform with no effort made at all! 😄So three stars for the poems that I loved - Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, A Time to Talk, The Road Less Taken, The Oven Bird, Bond and Free, Birches。 There are a number more I enjoyed as well! But overall not my favorite collection。 。。。more

This is a lovely selection of poems。 When I got it I was not aware that there would be some illustrations included, which I found rounded out the collection nicely! There is great variety here, more so than in most Frost books, I believe。 I also appreciate the introduction and commentary, which brings insight into Frost’s life, traits, and experiences, as well as offering notes on the poems– their narrative, literary devices, backstory, etc。 Overall a great book of one of my favourite poets! Definitely get it if you’re a Robert Frost fan or just looking to have some poetry in your life。I find Frost's writing to be very beautiful and contemplative; for a quote, I’m including the last stanza from one of my favourite poems ever, “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening”:“The woods are lovely, dark and deep,But I have promises to keep,And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep。” 。。。more

I almost cried reading this, because it touches your heart in a special way。 Even though it's a picture book, this would make a delightful gift for an adult who loves Robert Frost's poetry, or maybe for a graduation gift to a young person who is embarking on a life journey。 And it's a great way to introduce Frost's poetry to children as well。 Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a free and honest review。 All the opinions stated here are my own true thoughts, and are not influenced by anyone。 。。。more
